Snooker – Ronnie O’Sullivan: The Fastest 147 in history
Snooker is quite a popular sport around the world but its not known everywhere, and in many countries it isn’t televised.
Not to worry, as its so popular many people upload highlights and clips to youtube and here’s one of the best.
Ronnie O’Sullivan is one of the most famous and successful professional snooker players in the world, known as the bad boy of snooker he’s been in trouble with the snooker authorities multiple times, including being disqualified from the Irish Masters after winning it because he failed a Cannabis Drug Test. Known as the Rocket due to his rapid play style, it wasn’t until 1997 that he really lived up to his nickname. He completed the 147 in 5 minutes 20 seconds. Potting a ball every 8.8 seconds.
A 147 is when you pot every ball and is the highest possible break you can earn without your opponent fouling. Ronnie is currently the leader of maximum breaks with a total of 13, he also recently upset some snooker fanatics by only going for a 146 because the £10,000 on offer for the 147 was a bit “too cheap” for him, he has won almost £8 and a half million pounds in his career (second only to Scotland’s Stephen Hendry) so it is not like he’s stuck for money!
Fancy giving snooker a go? You’ll need a really good cue to get anywhere near 147!
